Nexsan has launched the VHR-Series, a new enterprise storage appliance built specifically for Veeam Hardened Repository environments and designed to strengthen backup infrastructure against ransomware, insider threats and data loss.
The appliance combines Nexsan storage hardware with the Veeam Hardened Repository ISO, giving organizations a pre-integrated option for deploying immutable backup storage.
Nexsan is targeting both mid-market organizations and large enterprises with the platform, offering usable capacities ranging from 64TB to 3.3PB.
Immutability Takes Aim at Ransomware
Ransomware has made backup infrastructure an increasingly important part of enterprise security strategy.
Attackers can target backups alongside production systems in an attempt to prevent organizations from restoring their environments without paying a ransom. The company designed the VHR-Series around faster recovery time objectives, an increasingly important consideration as organizations evaluate backup systems based not only on whether data is protected, but how quickly operations can be restored following an incident.
Configurations are tested and supported by Nexsan, and the company is providing a standard five-year global hardware warranty across the VHR-Series lineup.
Veeam Ready Status Validates Compatibility
The VHR-Series has also achieved Veeam Ready Appliance status.
Veeam’s qualification program validates partner solutions against functional and performance requirements, giving customers confirmation that supported appliances are compatible with Veeam Data Platform capabilities.
The certification is particularly relevant for organizations looking to reduce some of the integration work involved in deploying hardened repositories.
Rather than assembling and validating the underlying infrastructure independently, IT teams can deploy a configuration that has already been tested around the Veeam environment.
Storage Scales From 64TB to 3.3PB
Nexsan is positioning scalability as another differentiator for the VHR-Series.
Usable capacity ranges from 64TB to 3.3PB, allowing the same product family to address organizations with relatively modest backup requirements as well as enterprises managing petabyte-scale datasets.
The systems can also integrate with Nexsan’s E-Series expansion shelves as storage requirements increase.
