Kioxia introduced the KIOXIA CM10 Series, its first PCIe 6.0 enterprise solid-state drives, targeting AI inference, context caching and other demanding enterprise workloads.
The new drives use Kioxia’s BiCS FLASH generation 10 TLC flash memory and are designed to support NVIDIA CMX architecture. Kioxia said the CM10 Series also supports direct-cold-plate liquid cooling, a feature aimed at denser AI infrastructure deployments.
Storage Moves Up The AI Stack
The announcement reflects a shift in the role of enterprise SSDs. As AI models scale and context windows grow, storage is becoming part of the memory hierarchy rather than only a place to keep data before processing.
Kioxia said architectures such as NVIDIA CMX extend beyond GPU memory by using ultra-fast flash memory storage for context cache workloads. That approach is meant to help systems handle larger AI workloads without relying only on expensive high-bandwidth memory attached directly to accelerators.
Performance And Cooling Are Linked
Kioxia said the CM10 Series delivers up to about 92 percent higher sequential read performance and up to about 85 percent higher random read performance compared with the prior generation. The company also highlighted power efficiency and cooling flexibility as design priorities.
Those details are important for AI infrastructure buyers because storage performance cannot be separated from rack density, thermal design and total system power. A faster SSD that cannot fit within the cooling envelope of a dense server platform is less useful in production environments.

Kioxia’s CM10 Series points to a more specialized enterprise SSD market, where AI inference and context caching place new demands on storage. For infrastructure teams, the key test will be how PCIe 6.0 performance, liquid-cooling support and endurance translate into real workload gains in AI servers.
